Deep excavation has always been one of the highest risk activities in construction sites. Ensuring safe excavation is not only the responsibility of the contractor but also requires joint efforts from different parties including the client, the designer, and the regulator. Excavation works in Hong Kong are generally safe due to well established mechanism (e.g. robust design with experienced professional and lots of factor of safety; vetting by statutory bodies; site controls implementation, etc.). This webinar aims to provide an overview on some of the key elements throughout the entire project duration that are essential for ensuring safe excavation. The two speakers, Henry Shiu from HSP Consultant and Gavin Toh from Lambeth (Gammon's in-house consultancy) will share their views from designer's and construction's perspective on how we may make safe excavation even safer.
